There Went April . . . Ooops!

Soooo, April. Yeah. Meant to blog. Can't believe I didn't, other than being busy. Which isn't really an excuse seeings how I'm still busy and writing a blog now.

April seemed to fly by. Lots of reading for classes, keeping up with papers and other homework. The weather has been all over. Really warm and then really cold and a frost warning out for the next few days (even though I'm talking about May right here).

A lot of things have fallen to the wayside. Reading anything other than assigned books, any sort of relaxation, and healthy eating habits. We're down to the wire now. I have been writing a lot, hanging out with friends, attempting to excersize somewhat regularly, and enjoying (for the most part) my last few months here at Western. I think I'm doing a pretty good job of attempting to keep up with everything, even though a good Agatha Christie novel would do me some good at the moment.

"March Madness" Is About Right

So, I just looked up and realized that March is quickly flying past. Therefore, I decided to stop and take a moment to acknowledge its existance (and smell the flowers).

If you didn't get this from my first two sentences, ITS BEEN BUSY!

But, on the other hand (for the most part) it has been fun. It's college, of course it's fun. Well, classes . . . eh, but we all knew that.

Now that we've gone and done Spring Break (a trip to visit my Gram), I've settled in to a sort of groove, disrupted every once in a while by "senioritis". I think that just comes with the territory. I've been writing a lot (which I LOVE) and I've started running fairly regularly-ish. My sleep schedule is a bit off, but that's life.

I cannot believe how close graduation is. I don't know what to expect afterwards, I don't really know what I want out of a career. In other words: It should be interesting!

Well, that was a random post to keep a person on their toes. Random thoughts from a late/early time in the morning . . . however you wish to view it. A bit of the glass half full or half empty except more of a . . . night owl or early bird twist. Well, there you are, cheers!

Dear February, You crack me up!

Hiya! So, February!

-Snowpacolypse. Meaning 20 inches of snow and 2 snow days off. Beautiful.

-A week later temperatures reaching to 70 degrees F followed by a cold front reducing the temperatures to 50?! Lovely!

-Rehearsals!! I'm stage managing the production All My Sons here at Western! :D BUSY!

-I graduate in a few months. (Excited) Classes are very busy. (of course) Including my most difficult class of my college/uni career. (EEK!)

So, I've been a bit stressed, but that doesn't seem to be anything new. I'm trying to get everything together, but it's a bit difficult with everything on my plate. The play opens this Wednesday (Feb. 23) so it will be over by the end of this coming week. (An exciting and yet sad prospect as I've really enjoyed working on this show!) However, I've also missed writing. Over Winter Break I got into a groove (writing-wise) and it has been put on hold a bit for the show. But, now that the show is coming to a close, I'm looking forward to being able to write a lot again.

I suppose that is really all that is going on besides missing England every once in a while (or a lot) and yup, that's about it.

Happy 2011 Time!!!

Well Happy 2011!!

It seems not so long ago when we just hit 2000 but now it's officially 11 years later. Crazy, I know.

Well, this new year finds me ready to go back to university and leave my job behind until summer. It has been frustrating and I think I know I'm not meant to work retail for the rest of my life. A good thing to know at this point in my life.

However, I'm very anxious about my last semester of Uni. It's probably going to prove to be the most difficult semester of my college career and that is saying something. I thought this past semester was difficult, having to re-adjust to Western like I did. But, I made it through, with decent grades as well!

I'm going to be doing a LOT of reading this semester, not to mention a 15-25 page paper worth 40% of one of my grades. And, a week after we start back, I'm beginning my second stage managing job for the school year. I'm excited, but at the same time it's going to add a bit of stress to the first 6 weeks of the semester. I hope it will be worth it though!!

For the record, I would like to point out that when I say 'a lot of reading' I mean a LOT. I have ordered my books on Amazon this semester because there are 19 of them. I think I saved a lot by shopping on Amazon. But 19. 19!! It's gonna be one helluva semester.

I would also like to put in writing my hopes for the year. They are as follows:

-Write my heart out. (Translation . . . WRITE LOTS AND LOTS)
-Exercise lots
-Get a job in my career field (please, please, please!!)
-Save lots of money for all the different things I need/want very much

Yup. There we are. Goals. It's always nice to have goals. End of. :)

I feel like I should recap this past year, but I think it would be very near to impossible. It's been a strange sort of year really. That's my 2010. Strange. It began in Paris and ended in Illinois. A strange sort of year that I would live over 2010 times again if I could. I saw Barcelona, London, Vegas, and the humble little town of Macomb. It's come full circle, I think.

Here's to 2011 and whatever it may bring to us all!!!

Wednesday, December 8, 2010

Oh . . . . yeah, it's December . .. right

Well, time's moving along as always. And yet, somehow I'm not sure I want it to. I feel like its flying ahead and not waiting for me to catch up.

At the same time, its dragging. I'm trying to speed by and it's holding me back. So run the hands of time. . .

BUUUTTT :D it's almost Christmas break. My semester is nearly done with one day of classes and two days of finals remaining. I'm not sure how I'm feeling about having one semester left after this. Graduation seems exciting but at the same time it is going to force me to leave something that I've known, something that has been familiar to me since I was five. I'm going to be 22 by the time this is all done. That's 17 years of my life spent in school. What now?

Hopefully I will be able to get a job. As it stands now, my college job, (retail) is becoming almost unbearable. Granted I am trying to move on with my life and I've been working at the same place doing the same job since 2006. It's been a while and I'm growing bored of the job. The people are great but the job is just . . . yup.

Here at school I've been chugging along. I was the co-stage manager for the mainstage production of Cabaret here at school. Next semester I'm stage managing for the show All My Sons. I'm really excited for the opportunities I've had and am having! I'm really working up quite a resume! :D

Classes are going well. I've been enjoying the feedback from my creative writing class and have successfully stumbled upon a good story that has potential. It has an interesting concept and I think if I keep at it, the story could develop into a good, interesting one!

My other classes have been interesting and boring. A fairly even split I'd say. I've slept through some classes, gone to most. I had one class that I feel like I learned nothing at all. Another where it was a lot of review of things I knew already. I think my favorite class would be my Non-Western Literature class. That I felt, was a class of discovery and I was surprised (I think) to find that Literature across the world is similar in theme and story. The differences occur in style and how each topic or theme is talked about.

So, there's some fun ramblings! HAHA

Oh, and I didn't even start a novel for NaNoWriMo. I just couldn't find the time between classes and Cabaret! Maybe next year!!!!

NaNoWriMo

Stands for National Novel Writing Month. Yes I mean November. Well, basically, I've signed up to try to write a 50,000 word novel by the end of November. It's a real event. Check it out: NaNoWriMo.org. You'll see. Anyways.

This event has only just begun today. And I'm already behind (so to speak). Technically I'm about 1,000 some odd words behind now because I haven't written at all today. I've still got lots of other stuff on my mind. So, this should be interesting. An added stress on top of my stressful existance. But that's the way the cookie crumbles (yup I said it haha)

Do I have a topic/plotline/character outline/ any clue as to what I'm going to write about?? Of course not. That would be silly. (ish) Actually no. That would be smart. But I'm winging it. So we'll see what sort of nonsense I can come up with in this month of November.
